When I was in university I lived in a house that only had one parking spot, so I had to park on the road. I went to the office where they give out permits and they told me that they were sold out for my street and the streets around me (probably because it was close to school and it was cheaper to pay for street parking than the ass raping prices the school was trying to charge for monthly parking). I didn't really have any other place to put my car so I started to get tickets. One day I was home when the parking guy came by and I explained the situation and asked him kindly if he could just not give me tickets. He informed me that his job was to "give out tickets, not to think." Those were his exact words. So every week I would get 5 tickets (because you could park on the street on the weekend) and every week I would go and fight the tickets always getting off. How fucked up is that?

I really don’t understand people like that. There is a fine line between doing your job and just plain fucking someone over on a daily basis. I agree that if you park somewhere like a handicapped spot you should get a ticket, but there are so many other situations where there should be some discretion involved.
