there always has to be boundaries and limits. thats why there are laws. i need a license to drive a car, i need a background check to buy a gun, i need a prescription for a drug... but if i want to have 10 kids and raise them to be assholes and everyone elses problem, thats totally ok... because society can bear the full cost of my actions and decisions. i might have "freedom" to do that... but i am also forcing the consequences of my behavior on others. thats not fair to others.

sure, you have a point but you never know whos life you are preventing. on one hand you could preventing said gangbanger, on the other hand you could be preventing the life of someone who finds the cure for cancer. just the way you put made it sound like something a totalitarian government would do, and its a very slippery slope from there. though its interesting. you say people should be reasonable and rational, not emotional and irrational, yet it seems your opinion is based on emotional things you went through as a child. but in the end i do agree that letting kids become a problem of the state is way to easy.
