In the 1920s it was hardcore to see a guy get shot with a cap gun in a fake ass cowboy flick. Now people have gotta see blood and guts everywhere, ultra realistic close ups, just to get the same effect. Same with porn - people just get desensitised, especially having it rammed down their throats on the internet every day - it's gotta be something different (ultra hardcore) to get their attention.
