Apart for selling "legal drugs" - telecom companies (especially monopolies) are one of the most profitable enterprises on the face of the earth.
True the Mexican economy is fairly healthy after decades of shit - they now trade with around over 40 relevant countries and have a reasonable trade balance.
Immigration obviously helps, and it is substantial - tho not the main reasons for a change of economy - there are a lot more companies operating/exporting from Mexico than in the past. |
I might want to add:
It is true that free trade has contributed to the growth of the mexican economy, but this wealth has not been distributed to all of its citizens. Wealth has been concentrated in few people like Slim. Today there are more poor mexicans then ever. The gap between the rich and the poor is wider then ever.
