We are not talking about an older kid that is at risk of being caught up in the system. There are in fact huge waiting lists for couples wanting to adopt babies. So whether the baby goes to the state or a private adoption, his or her early life of eat, poop, sleep isn't going to be affected in the short transition. Again, there are people who desperately want this baby and can provide a great, stable home.
