I think the thing that most programs tend to miss is the releasing a new site (or program) is an integral thing: You need to come to the table with the site, the promo tools, the galleries, the RSS feeds, whatever it is... all on launch day.

For me, there is nothing more frustrating that a hot new site with nothing to promote it with. Get some sample content out there, get some galleries ready, get at least a few banners done (they are cheap to make, come on, splurge for the last $200), and have other promotional tools at the ready.

A sponsor that has sites that are 6 months old and still doesn't have more than a single banner or 3 free hosted galleries is probably not working it very hard.

When I see a program that has an ongoing committment to fresh galleries, promo tools, banners, content, etc, then I know that is a program that is going to move forward.
