Let's see, I am on my knees with about 6 cops swarming around me, my wife is screaming, my son may have well shit his pants, they have automatics, probably drawn, and a frickin shot gun waving around and all the while I am sure the cops kept telling them to shut up.

The dog is a hero even if he was going to attack the cop. He had the dogs family hostage. Plain and simple.
