In those days voice cards hadn't been developed yet, so we had all the moaning and groaning sex recordings we had made on looped cartridges in Takashio industrial players.
Bought 25 of them. Stuck them in a small 6' x 10' storage room in the bottom of a big office bldg. in downtown LA. Put our first full page ad in Hollywood Press, a sleazy paper distributed in newspaper boxes on street corners all over Southern California. Sat there waiting for the first ads to hit the newstands.
My partner and I started to sweat and were beginning to worry we had just blown $25K. Still nothing happening. Then all of a sudden one machine clicked on. And we were like wow, cool. Then a 2nd machine clicked on. Then a 3rd. A 4th. Within an hour all the machines were lit up and playing our sex tapes.
