well, you have teams that rely on 3 pointers as one of their weapons (Spurs, Bulls) but other teams are forced to do that when defense is adjusted to avoid penetration and easy points in the paint. Take Suns-Spurs yesterday, it was a Tim Duncan block fest, so Suns had to fire from downtown when they usually make most of their points close to the rim. Then you have attack systems where you go to the low post or penetrate to make all the D close on you and then you get the ball out for an open player. There are lots of posibilities, but lately teams that are reliable from outside the arc are the ones getting the games.
If, as many expect, the finals are Spurs-Pistons, be ready for LOADS of 3 points attempts
