Click rates to your sponsor from your gallery will be in the 1-2% range, depending on the design of your gallery. So:
50,000 hits to your gallery
x 2%
= 1000 clicks to sponsor
So you can figure it will take 25k-50k hits to get one signup. This number can vary wildly depending on:
1. The source/quality of the traffic
2. The design of your gallery
3. The sponsor you are promoting
To figure your cost for traffic, you have to figure out how much bandwidth each surfer will use on average. If we assure 250KBytes / user:
50,000 x 250KB = 12.5G = $3.25 (@$0.25/gig)
So your bw cost to get one signup is $3.25.
Now as far as how to spend your money. You could buy content, pay for a gallery template design, pay for hosting, and then a top gallery listing on the hun to top it off. If we figure the Hun will send about 200k hits:
Content: $25
Design Work: $50
Hosting: @$0.25/gig x 50 = $12.5
Paid Hun Listing: $200
So you are looking at nearly $300 in expenses. Off this you will get about 5 signups worth about $25 each (Or $125). Of course there are people out there with hot shit technique that make a lot of money posting galleries, I'm just saying it isn't necessarily easy.
