The first song has really good lyrics, great melody and a good hook. My only suggestion would be to shorten it by about 40 seconds if she wants to try to get it published. First song is pretty commercial, and she would have a chance of getting it cut by an artist. Second song is also good, but a bit folksy to be commercial.
Her voice is beautiful, and you can tell she has performed a lot for other people in her life.

Stickyfingerz,
Thank you very much for the advice! I will do exactly as you said to do with the poormans copyright today.
I dont know exactly what my hubby did.. but he had it " time stamped " some how as well.
Your last sentence about her voice being beautiful... will make her so so so so happy to hear.. Thank you so very much!
When we were kids she won the Nashville Country Music Songwriting Award..
The promoters wanted her to go on tour and swore she would make it BIG...
BUT...
she had 3 small children and was a single mother.. so she turned them down...
she did not have to turn them down... she did it for us kids
I wish more than anything now that I could help her get back into it again.. it makes her so happy
