Good advice and over time, those steps would doubtless be effective: at least with respect to those sponsors who have a substantial "mainstream" affiliate base.
But realistically the only way to generate enough complaints consistently and therefore make the aggravation hurt, would be for a group of those affected most to hire someone to work on this day in and day out. Otherwise the result is just an occasional complaint which is quickly dealt with, and as we have seen, the same affiliate/content is back the next day.
That still leaves the question of why so many affiliates and sponsors are willing to promote programs which help monetize sites "from the dark side". As someone pointed out already, of course they could identify many offenders themselves if they wanted to. A few dummies have become dependent on a single source of recurring income, but for the rest, is it really that hard to learn how to sell alternates which don't play both sides of the fence?
