Lake Gaston Sunrise -- aka "My Morning"

Those of you who know me know that I moved to Lake Gaston earlier this year to relax a bit more than I could in Connecticut. Some days, nature chooses to remind me why I moved.

I was about to go to bed. Instead of doing that, I crept out of the door, camera in hand, to the shore of the lake. Looking through the trees at the edge of my property, I saw this ...

So, being a sucker for gorgeous sun-rises on the water, I climbed to the top of my boat house to take in the view. Here's what I saw ...

It's difficult for words to describe how calm the scene was, but I'll try. First of all, imagine the wet "fresh" feeling the day after a nice pouring rain. I'm standing on the slightly slick wood of the boat house, smelling the fresh morning air. The entire world feels like it's on "pause." Although there are never car noises or anything from the "real world" here, nature can sometimes be a bit noisy. Because the sun was just STARTING to rise, most of the critters hadn't yet gotten the memo, and were silent. Very few birds, no squirrels or anything of that nature.

The LAKE, however, was as alive as could be. Fish were jumping out of the water like a fireworks show. If you'd been crass enough to ruin the moment by casting a fishing line into the water, it would have been impossible to come up empty.

The sun was still amazing, too ...

Out on the dock itself, I have a pair of chairs. Great for having a beer at the end of the day, but it seemed like a great picture, so I'll close with that ...
