Tesla was doing wireless electricity over 100 years ago. His financier JP Morgan was against it because he didn't think they could measure power usage and charge customers, but Tesla wanted to give electricity free to everyone
"When Morgan wanted to know "Where can I put the meter?", Tesla had no answer. Tesla's vision of free power did not agree with Morgan's worldview; nor would it pay for the maintenance of the transmission system."
