Iraq was invaded for one reason and one reason only.
After the first Iraq war Bush Senior left Saddam in power. Of course it was out of self interest that he did so but that's neither here nor there. He left Saddam in power.
A few years later Saddam showed his gratitude by trying to assassinate Bush Senior.
Bad move.
Heads of state are not supposed to do that sort of shit. It's that simple.
Where Bush Junior fucked up was by not learning the Vietnam lesson and electing to fight a guerilla war with no exit plan.
That too was just plain dumb.
If Bush Junior has a clue, he would, upon capturing Baghdad, have put one of Saddam's generals in charge and got the fuck out of there. Trust me, that's the way it will be written in the history books.
