I would agree she is the exception but when you get to the 103-104 range its a very serious issue that needs to be dealt with asap. The human body starts to shut down at that temp and the younger you are the more important it is.
But to say it was the parents fault 100% is a bit harsh and your missing the point about humanity and what a world power should be doing. She should have been able to go to the quickest hospital to get the care for her daughter and not had to call her HMO and find out the acceptable hospital in a time of crisis for a parent.
But unless you personally ever get royally fucked over by your insurance company and find yourselves broke due to the medical issues, you will never see the other side. And thats fine. I just hope if the day happens to you, there are lots of people that come to your side to help.
