This is a very hotly debated issue, but GENERALLY it's the custodian of record's duty to hold the identification of a model and all of her release info. Definitely something to look into, and there are several camps on this issue. I wish there was one ultimate authority to clear it up, but there isn't unfortunately. No matter what though, deal with a content provider you trust.
