I'm sure many here find it somewhat difficult to be introspective and self-analytical when it comes to this topic. Its not easy to 'step outside yourself' and take a genuine look at the effects.
But that said...
No denying there's a definite desensitizing effect overall - especially in the BDSM/fetish niche. After producing for the bondage market for over a decade, I find mainstream porn rather passe. I find even some of the tamer bondage imagery is comparatively boring these days.
My personal tastes tend to parallel the evolution of our production - always looking for the next extreme (legal) level that'll satisfy the urge.
