while you know that you wouldn't bring up the biz in conversation, maybe she didnt know that and was worried you would.
Maybe the person was her sheltered, religious cousin who would faint if he/she knew what she does.
Maybe she was arguing with the person she was with and in a bad mood.
Even if you didn't mention the biz, the person might say "who was that?" after you walked away, and maybe Zoe doesn't like to lie and would rather avoid having to answer the question, assuming it's someone who doesn't know what biz she's in.
The bottom line is that you can't expect someone ELSE to know something just because YOU know it.
