You would be amazed at how hard I have to actually work at this.
I have never been 100% restricted since the surgery.
In fact when you come out of surgery there is no restriction, in roughly a week you can eat as much as you want but it goes against the first 4 weeks diet.
My first 4 weeks, all I could have was liquids...then 2 weeks of soft foods with the consistency of baby foods...I did not have my first fill until week 5 1/2. But even then I was still not 100% restricted.
One reason I lost so much weight in the beginning was because I personally exercised will power and avoided succumbing to temptations. And believe me I was starving.
I know of people who actually gained weight after surgery because you can have as much liquids as you want...and they just ate, and ate gallons of soup. Some even broke down and ate pizza etc.
Even right now at this very moment, out of a 10cc band, I have only had a 2cc fill, and am due for another. So I'm still not 100% restricted, and am still hungry rather quickly after meals.
But I continue to make the right choices, I have had in the two months since surgery something with processed sugar in it once, which was a cupcake on my nieces birthday.
If I do "cheat." I now cheat by eating some white meat from some chicken, and believe me the piece I cheat with is of no consequence.
I exercise daily. I swim in our pool and in the beginning could only do 3 laps, and I am now up to 14+ and usually after that I'm still not even that tired.
So yeah...it's the lazy way out.
