Although I do think that everyone should be entitled to decent health care, I do see the advantages of it being private too.

I haven't seen the movie yet, do they mention the Canadian system? What does he say about it?

I was born and raised in Canada and despite having free health care, you also have to wait for months on lists to get certain things done where in the US you could pay and have it done the next day. I also worried that a lot of Canada's medical talent would move to the US in search of more money...
