I think it's great that he liked it.
She
was incredibly witty and forward thinking. For me, it's her wit that makes her books so fantastic to read. You also have to consider that she was writing during the very beginning of the 19th century, which is another thing that makes her work so amazing to me. Gender roles and expectations were pretty much written in stone during that period. She couldn't even write under her own name and never received any recognition until after her death.
