I don't think that when it was written it was intended for the next generations to profit from its powers. You can't blame them. If they were really smart and inventing things, they would have known its consequences thus, either wrote it differently or never wrote it. Life is about evolution, if you argue religion, thus evolution means recent is definitely smarter then older. Which explains evolution. Unless some major event took place in history, that still after 2008 years can't be explained. hmm.
