Who gives a shit about an apology, in both cases it became very clear that the people making the accusations were dead wrong. In both cases they tried to destroy someone else's business with no proof, and " opps i am sorry" makes up for all the damage they did to that person? well it certainly makes themselves look better which is the only reason they do it.

An apology is an acknowledgment expressing regret or asking pardon for a fault or offense. Whatever the motivation, it is a step in the right direction.
Whether the person to whom the apology is directed accepts the apology is an altogether different issue.
The offended party may even accept the apology, yet still pursue legal action for the damages which they suffered.
