Because I am annoyed and irritated by the the progress of this thread, I'm not going to be my usual professional self. I'm calling *bullshit* on the "I'm not notified" / "I do not monitor" response. You posted this spam thread without mentioning that your link required an expensive registration just to view, and then when people began asking how to view it, you replied at least twice with "hit me up" instead of answering the question. It's my opinion that you were deliberately playing "hide the ball" and trying to disguise the spammy nature of your thread. We're all grownups here, you could have responded to the first inquiry with "sorry, forgot to mention it's a paid registration." But, you didn't. Too late now to claim you didn't see those questions, because you answered them in a "misleading-by-omission" fashion.
Props to Chris for responding with a link and an explanation, but I'm still not real impressed even by his response. First of all, the link he provided takes me to a list of the domains that were in the live auction. I'd found that link already. But I do not see (perhaps I'm having a navigation failure?) any link to the silent auction domain list -- which (it was my impression, perhaps wrong?) is a different / bigger list?
And second, Chris does not expressly indicate what's going to happen when you "contact your moniker account exec, or contact Jrzeygirl or myself so that we can get you the access you need." Will that, or will that not, involve paying you three hundred bucks?
I see two possibilities here - either they really do want three hundred bucks but they're unwilling to say so in public (lame!) or they will give free access to anybody who jumps through the right hoops, shows their "bro card", "hits them up", grovels, whatever, but they don't want to say THAT in public either. FUCK that shit, I'm tired of guessing games. I don't buy from bricks and mortar stores that don't display a price, I don't buy from commissioned salesmen who respond to "what do you want for it" with a list of features, and I don't like playing "can I be in your clubhouse?" games. I pay full retail if the product is worth the price, and I don't have *time* to fuck around. It's always been my view that if a merchant won't state his price up front and in writing, he's not serious about doing business.
I've heard nothing but good about Moniker in the past. As my domaining activities have been overtaking my adult webmastering work, I've been increasingly thinking I need to take some of my business there. I saw domains sell in the Live Auction at prices I would have outbid in a heartbeat if I could have been there. I think all that makes me a qualified buyer for this silent auction thing. But, after two visits to the live auction site, a couple of visits to the Moniker homepage, careful attention to the Moniker spam thread on the leading adult webmaster board, a couple of pointed inquiries and complaints, the responsible Moniker reps have not only failed to tell me how I can access the auction or even see the catalog, they've insisted on playing "hide the ball" about identifying the rules in public. So, fuckit. I tried. Plenty of other outfits competing for my eyeballs, my interest, and my domain budget.
