This is a pretty big thread so I didn't read it all. But there is quite a few sites that use torrents legally. One of the biggest companies I know of that uses torrents legally is blizzard, they use it for updating world of warcraft. I bet it's saved them a TON in bandwidth bills.
But there's also sites like these that use torrents legally.
