A 4ft long mummified baculum from a species of walrus extinct for 12,000 years is currently on sale. The penis bone curves to a point and is covered in skin and dry muscle tissue. "Size matters, and the walrus has got everybody beat," says Josh Chait.
Chait, director of his family's auction house in Beverly Hills California, says fossils and other relics are perfect conversation pieces and several famous people who collect fossils are: Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford, Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg.
Bidding for the baculum starts at $16,000. The penis was found preserved by permafrost in northern Siberia. The biannual auction also includes 2 mating flies trapped in amber and the skeleton of a Mosasaurus from the Cretaceous Period.
