WHITE HAT SEO FOR NOOBS

Introduction:

For approximately 3 1/2 years I have spent most of my time reviewing many SEO practices commonly used and have listened to many who wrote on the subject trying to sell others on the idea that they do not need to optimize their website(s), for the search engines, as to get a good position(s) and all that was needed was off site optimization or scripts and linking schemes to up ones PR, as to get a good search engine position(s)...

What I had came across was 4 different classes of people who SEO for themselves and others... those classes are:

---> white hat SEO ( ethical )
---> black hat SEO ( unethical )
---> Grey hat SEO ( ethical & unethical )
---> NOOB ( a person who really just not know; we all start out this way! )

I am going to focus on the ethical practices and would strongly suggest that practicing webmasters do the same. The very first thing one should do to understand SEO is to read what the search engines say... since you are trying afterall to get good listings within them this would be the best starting point.

Search Engine Optimization when properly done is incorporated into ones website(s) when being designed and is not just an after thought.

To get listed in the search engines is not difficult, however getting within the first or second search pages can be a bit hard, if you do not know what you are doing. When people are searching for your site on the search engines they are doing so by using your keywords as to get to your site(s)...

So here are the basics to get your websites picked up by the search engines...

Picking the proper keywords to describe your content is important, but keep in mind that search volume of your keywords is also very important...

It is true the search engines will pick up a website that has no meta tags found in the <head> tag, however this is providing that you have proper keyword density, inbound text link(s) with short description(s) and that you are using <h1> to <h5> headers in your body with a short description found within the tags... but this does not mean that you will have a good position within the search engine(s)

I have always found it much easier just to include the meta tags in the <head> tag of my websites just to keep things straight forwards.

Here is a very simple SEOed webpage...

example domain: ( does not work )

http://www.<font color="Yellow">seo<..._for_noobs.com

<html>

<head>
<title>SEO how-to for noobs !</title>
<META name="keywords" content="seo,how-to">
<META name="Description" CONTENT="Drive traffic to you websites by learning how-to SEO for yourself. This example site has all your SEO how-to books you'll ever need!">
</head>

<body>

<h2>Professional SEO How-to books for $ 0.00 !</h2>

This is only a example on Search Engine Optimization and for the search engines to pickup this example SEO how-to "website" there must be at least 3 paragraphs for google to index you properly...<p />
<br />
Now SEO can be easy if you use meta tags... now in writing this example for you, I will need to have keywords match up to those in my meta tags; or the meta tags are not relevant and will not serve any real function other then to match up to the meta tag description in the head tag... and keyword density will be too low as to gain a good position in the search engines...<p />
<br />
There is a need to have books on SEO describing how-to because there are way too many noobs who need to get educated on the subject... but be kind to them because the subject of SEO can be hard... If you are still reading this I am just writing such to fill the required 3 paragraphs...<p />
<br />
I am writing a this paragraph just for the keyword density requirement; this example just keeps on going but has a actual point and that is to up the keyword density of this example on SEO and how-to... ^^<p />
<br />

</body>
</head>

In the above example on Search Engine Optimization you see the keywords being relevant by appearing in the body of the website example now in order.

1.) the URL has the two keywords
2.) meta tags has the same keywords
3.) the description also has the keywords showing a few times
4.) the title has the keywords
5.) there is a h tag with the keywords
6.) the body has the keywords showing up many time ( important for keyword density )

Even though this is just a sample; such if hosted on the example domain would get a fairly high position within the search engines...

Simple !

I will continue to post on this subject as to help webmasters gain a better search engine positions... so enjoy!

Later,

.
