Real BUSINESS thread. Is quality content underpriced? How do you put a value on it?

Having NOT been on the purchasing side of this question I have often wondered two things...

1. What factors go into determining the type of content that a website/program wants to add?

2. How do you put a value on the content? Quality vs. Quantity

I have seen successful companies utilize different methods but I think that it boils down to the fact that the better the quality of the content, the more value should be placed on it.

I think in the long run the consistent quality of the content vs. a large quantity of average content should translate into long term growth and profitability of the site/program.

Just my observation... your thoughts.
