Having witnessed the origins of spyware 5 years ago I am surprised it has taken all of you this god damn long to figure it out. So many sponsors do it. Go read Netpond 4 years ago. Read GFY 4 years back. Lots of top companies had tool bars. A lot of them got caught and they figured out a way to do it under the radar. This has been going on for a long time. A long long time. Now people are getting caught because they are stupid. (and because they don't invent the software - they just buy ads from other people.)
Why market when you can steal from your peers? Why work when you can steal? Lots of assholes that you trust do it. It will only get worse I'm sure of it.
