OK, so the first advice would be that I stop faking drama.
Now for the second advice you have:
Situation:
People don't want to follow my instructions to install my script and then email me with problems. The number one problem is they didn't use an FTP program which is required.
Since they need to open the files on their desktop to change the path to perl I would think this would be natural. Because once they save the edited file on a PC they have to upload with FTP or the script may not work.
So it really does no good to give them linux files if they have to change the path to perl or sendmail.
(yeah, yeah, they could use VI....dream on...

)
So should I stop letting people install it on their own?
