China is currently undergoing a pretty serious amount of inflation. There are a bunch of reasons for this, but most prominent in all of this is the combination of a much freer marketplace against significantly increased demand from more affluent workers.
Essentially, more and more people in China are moving into what we mught consider middle class. They are no longer worried about "will there be anything to eat", more like "I wonder if Starbucks will have any cream left on the counter, or will I have to ask for extra?".
My girlfriend is over there right now, and she said I can leave the extra suitcase at home, there won't be much to bring back this time.
