New Jersey's legislature recently pushed forward a bill that aims to make dating sites "safer."

It seems very burdensome: Dating sites are required to notify all NJ customers if the sites ran criminal background checks on their members. The notices must be sent in all emails and all pages that are displayed to or sent to NJ residents. Also, the notice must be in BOLD FONT and font size 12 and up.
The key legal issue that comes to mind is: Doesn't the US Congress hold exclusive power over interstate commerce and communication? While there's Supreme Court cases that allow some state regulation of interstate commerce, such regulation
must not be overly burdensome.
Given the amount of hurdles the bill requires of dating sites does give one the impression that it is overly heavy and too much of a hassle.
It doesn't seem very effective either since people can always fib.
