yeah, you need something like a trojan scanner. also, if you don't do it already, something that i subscribe to like clockwork and does very well. i use a seperate drive for all my important data stuffs. anything i need stays on there, including regular email backups. that way, if the OS dies, i can reinstall without losing anything, and it seems to be pretty well protected that way from viruses. all my OS and program files and such are stored on the main drive. works well for me, and doesn't hose me if the OS goes down. just something to think about for those who don't do this. it's better than a backup in a sense, because it's a snapshot of current. (but still do the backup thing)


KRL, and others:
for those of you running w2k sp1, this version does have a known quirk of fucking up the FAT. had that happen once, thought the drive died, nope, just windows. so make sure you're using pre-sp1 or post-sp1 with w2k.
