Let me make it simple:
Trade barriers => no export => poverty => forced to deliver cheap crude resources and cheap labor => no chances of viable industry developing
Just for your information, much of our wealth is *derived* from these countries. In most of the cases this is done in ways that can only be described as exploitation.
No, we aren't generous. They are dying *because* of us. We are wealthy *because* of them. Get it?

If I remember correctly you brought Africa up as your starting point which has very little trade sanctions against it. To be honest sanctions which is your term for Trade barriers really doesn't mean a whole lot when the country has nothing to trade. Another words you would like us to develope these countrys?
