I grew up in SoCal (but now live in NCal), so I remember these slang words from my SoCal days:
"Dude" - Hey you
"Dude?" - What the hell are you thinking?
"Dude!" - Either "great!" or "oh shit, run!"
"Duuuude" - You really fucked that up
"Duuuude?" - Are you on acid?
"Duuuude!" - Something unbelievable cool just happened
"Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude..." - Now *that* is some killer chronic
