For me personally I've always found them to be unsightly and makes the girl trashy-looking...at least the big-assed ones some girls have. If they're done tasteful and understated there are examples of where I've found it okay and at times even sexy.

Those larger ones across the lower back aka "tramp stamp" I find to be ridiculous. So many girls have them now it's as if getting one isn't setting you apart, it's about you conforming to the MAJORITY. It's become a cliche, as has the belly ring. :D
