I'm afraid there will always be some programs that you are used to, without a Mac version available. Or a Mac version that lags behind the Windows version.
I had to find replacements for some apps, but mostly of minor importance. Like a text editor, file manager (I just need a Norton Commander alike program, this dates back to my DOS days! :-) and a program to convert videos to other formats/sizes and such. Things I don't use every day, all day long. And where I could easily find a good replacement on the Mac.
Of course this is different for every user. If you have a killer app that you are addicted to and where no Mac version exists..
