I told them I run a photo/video studio, and my company designs and develops websites. The email I used to communicate with my agent was from one of my corp sites, and I did not get into too many details beyond the basics.
One of the people at the actual insurance company (not the agency) looked up my corporate domain name, ran a few searches (can you believe this?) and noticed my company also owned a few domain names that seem "adult" in nature.
The agent asked if this was true, so what was I going to say? I told them my company was 1/2 adult and 1/2 corporate, and that the nature of my adult sites were relatively softcore in the big picture (which is also true).
My policy is now under review, but it sounds like the main insurance company will probably cancel me soon, because they do not insure such (evil) businesses.
I said I was a photo/video studio that designs and develops websites. Now everyone is the fucking morality police?! Do insurance companies insure bars and liquor stores? How am I a higher risk than that?! Seriously, insurance companies taking a morality stand? Are you fucking kidding me?
Anyway, it's pretty scary how much information about all of us is out there these days, but that's the world we live in now, so whatcha gonna do?
Now I am just looking for a new insurance company, and I would like to find one that is okay with part of my business being "adult oriented" upfront, so I don't have to go through all of this again.
