While I understand that merit, I think thats what the 2 parties count on and the reason they continue to fuck the public cause they can. They know people will vote for one of them as the public thinks they are the only two parties that can win. And really that is the truth. But I do believe that the more people that voted for the independent, wild card the more fear would spread in the two parties and maybe get them to think about American needs instead of corporate and their needs and agendas.
If Ron Paul ran as an independent and got 25% of the vote that would raise flags to the both parties that the public is getting sick of their game and are actually ready to start voting for the people that will do what they want.
