I agree taxes are high, but they have to be the way the Republicans spent the last 6 years. I'd love to see spending curbed, taxes lowered, and our economy prospering. Unfortunately neither party is willing to do this. Democrats want to give handouts to Americans, Republicans want to give handouts to Arabs.

Welfare and welfare fraud is HUGE. It is one of the factors that is now bankrupting the state of Rhode Island, which is $600 million in the hole and maybe the first state to file court supervised bankruptcy.
Add in the the harm that it causes the taxpayers who are denied the use of their money to start businesses, add in the money that flees to less oppressive jurisdictions, and you see real harm to an economy.
Now, add up the 70 years of welfare and welfare fraud since 1935, and you have an economic catastrophe.
Long term a free Iraq makes excellent economic sense, it is like buying Alaska for pennies on the dollar.
Long term welfare makes as much sense as communism.
