anyway, now I'm obviously doing fine financially and ocassionally I buy some food, but then somehow forget about it, then I 'find' it, check that it's in bad condition, or past its expiry date and then well, have to throw it away. And then I kinda feel guilty for a second...
But then again, isn't food just a product like everything else, someone made it, I bought it, and instead of eating, I threw it away, but it's not that this very food would be sent for free to poor kids who are dying from hunger if I didn't buy it at the store....

You aren't "doing fine financially" and you should stop kidding yourself. You're way too close to living paycheck to paycheck, and maybe if you'd quit buying more food than you need you could actually start planning for the future.
