I remember a conversation I had with the guy who invented ICQ...seems as though it was for internal communication on a company to begin with, and those peeps had 5 digits...so the first public ones were 6 digits....
he also said those ICQs on Ebay are hacked accts...you buy them and use them for a bit, then they take them back...
dunno, those were my drinking days so I could have imagined it all....
