There are two factors in a meaningful relationship. The little one is the dynamic between the two people. Without compatibility, and a little luck, it won't happen.
The big one is the character of the two people. No person who doesn't know how to truly be in a relationship can be. No person who can't care honestly for another person can be. Many people are apparently too superficial for that kind of relationship.
Not everyone, though. If you can trust, and you can have compassion, its surprisingly easy. Oddly, it appears to be very rare. That's the part that makes me sad.
