The point is that it is not something that he wanted to discuss on the board. That is a fair position to take. I don't think it is particularly professional to be discussing these matters on a public board either.

Why not just contact him directly and get this sorted and stop alienating yourself from the rest of the industry. I really see no point in arguing on a message board about things of this nature.
