The wolfpack mentality here can be pretty intense, but of course damien should know that by now as he's been around long enough. He was given some good advice by a few of us in the threads he posted about this, but as far as I can tell he basically hung himself.
I think the self-hanging was in part due to him having the "_maxcash" tacked onto his username. While I see the company benefit of it with most of your reps, damien being a lot more outspoken than most and more blunt and at times abbrasive (nothing wrong with that) he probably should have just kept his username as "damien_2001" or whatever it was and just left off the _maxcash handle.
People equate your words with the company a lot more when you have the co. name right in your board handle, I find. He should have found a way to diffuse the situation instead of quitting. Personally I would never quit under those circumstances. You make things right, set records straight, change your username if you have to, and get on with business.
...and never say anything negative about another person or company unless you can unequivocally back it up with proof. Solid proof.
