Joe ol boy, you said yourself you have a whopping 19 million people in your "mostly outback" island continent. Canada hasn't got much more, at around 31 million, but we still have crime. You saying Australia doesn't have crime? Your founding colonists were almost ALL criminals.
Yes, let's disarm our civilians. Great idea. The criminals, who will buy guns illegally, can then rape us at will.
Taking shots at the USA for their high-profile crime rate is useless... other countries of similar population size have high crime rates too. You think Russia doesn't have a problem with crime? Think again. But taking away the civilian's right to bear arms isn't the way to go, all that does is render the population defenseless, and that is a notion best adopted by morons.
