He is doing that to protect the webmaster's ass (literally and figuratively). Expecting that the people he sells it too want to remain in strict compliance with 2257.
2257 reads that primary AND secondary producers maintain documenation of 'full name and dob' etc....although that's been heavily debated recently. For those of us that prefer to err on the side of caution Charly is doing a great thing.
The problem is is that he expects the people he's doing business with have a sense of realism and are not foolish enough to do something like you did. I'm sure it was an honest mistake but come on man....
