OR, you feel like you might get someone as good as you need for less than what you were willing to offer and you don't want to leave money on the table
In the past when I was considering taking a job with a big company I would contact the person I was supposed to and go through all of the rigamarole of detailing my experience and qualifications and providing references only to find out the job paid peanuts and wasn't worth getting out of bed for.
I'm sure there are alot of so-called writers out there who have gone through this many many many times, since the demand for writers is pretty high these days, and then someone who is an excellent writer finds out you want someone to write gallery descriptions for 10 cents apiece.
If nothing else, a more thorough and detailed job description might help you.
