If it was ONLY $500, then why the hassle? If you're so loaded that $500 is ONLY $500, you should be able to cover such a small payment.
You held the contest, picked a winner and then didn't pay for quite some time.
Trying to look like a bigshot and making the winner look bad doesn't look good on you either.
If you're going to hold a contest, pay in a timely manner.
